STRONGHOLD CRUSADER VII is a medieval combat simulation game that pits a player-created warlord against Saracens and assorted nomadic desert wanderers in a game loosely based on history. The year is 1453 A.D., and the fledgling city continues to grow into a major commercial center and military fortress. Players must utilize the city's maze of streets, hidden gates, and strategic choke points to protect it from attack. Additional environments like forests and rivers provide threats and challenges to besiegers. 


As a client-side multiplayer game, Stronghold Crusader III offers a number of features outside of the conventional single-player game play. Initially, however, the game was primarily a single-player only game. A feature known as Speed Playing allowed players to participate in clan games and tournaments.
