in autocad civil 3d, you can add a subassembly to any part. so let’s say you have a part called hvac, and you want to add a subassembly to it. now in this case we have a duct that goes from the hvac unit and then goes to a split box, and the split box has this attached to it.


first, let’s start off by creating the assembly. now a subassembly has a different icon than a part, but it’s very similar. so you create a new subassembly by selecting it from the assembly > subassemblies in the insert panel of the ribbon. then go down to the last option called duct. go down, and then go to assembly > add subassembly . then you select the option called duct from the subassemblies panel of the ribbon. and then you can select this option in the assembly > subassemblies panel in the ribbon. then you can name this subassembly. in this case, i’m going to call it duct. 84d34552a1
