We're pleased to announce that the next chapter in the SWAT franchise is live on Steam, featuring the critically acclaimed SWAT 4 and its exciting new expansion pack, SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate. And to celebrate the release of the second game in the franchise, we wanted to chat with level designer Dean Tate about the project. Tate also has a treat for fans of the game, as Irrational Games has turned it into a 25th Anniversary Special Edition, available now for $10.99 from Steam. You can also receive a free copy of the game code if you head over to its page on Irrational's site.

The SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate expansion pack delivers seven new scenarios for police officers to tackle. Lead the search for the gang leader responsible for multiple kidnappings and roadblocks, take on a familiar opponent along with a few new schemes, and unravel a deadly deal involving the worlds of organized crime and government.

We stopped by the Cedar Park offices of Irrational to chat with Dean Tate about the team's development process, and we spoke to him about the additions to the game, including the new hostage rescue mission, new weapons and skills, and course of the new boss fight. From there, we asked Tate to run through the latest two challenges in the Stetchkov Syndicate expansion pack, including the completion of a hostage rescue mission and a fight with the head of the group, "King of Swords". We finish up with some closing words from Tate on the game's upcoming release.

From the unbridled brutality of the enemy to the fate of hostages, SWAT 4 is packed with high stakes situations from mission to mission, and every new mission brings a new idea of how to approach a situation. The Stetchkov Syndicate's single player mode takes place in the same environments of SWAT 4's single player mode, and even the addition of new gameplay elements and fresh content doesn't lessen the overall experience. The game keeps players on their toes by making a few new enemies to fight in every scenario, and changing up the set of weapons at their disposal. Combined with the music from the game, all of this means you'll find yourself replaying certain levels multiple times. 84d34552a1
