another challenge for dynamics 365 is that it is also relatively inexpensive at a lower price point, with pricing that's at least a bit cheaper than salesforce's minimum fee. so if you are not a huge smb with a huge budget, dynamics 365 can be easier to deploy and somewhat easier to use than the expensive, well-supported dynamics crm. this won't be true for long, however, as soon as major versions of dynamics crm are released that have the capacity to offer some of the features that dynamics 365 does.


salesforce, meanwhile, has essentially let its relatively low cost and ease of use take away a significant portion of dynamics 365's smb market share, and it's not likely to let it take that back any time soon, as all indications are that it is going to continue its price pressure and move from a product-centric to a subscription-based business model. this is another part of the rivalry that has made salesforce attractive to crm users. its better pricing also puts the screws to some of the other vendors in the crm space, most notably microsoft, whose business model is increasingly out of sync with the evolving needs of its smb customers.


dynamics 365 also requires at least some technical knowledge to set up, and it does require a certain amount of ongoing maintenance. this is especially true now that it's been made available on a subscription basis.


in january 2015, microsoft announced the dynamics gp 365 license plans, and in august 2015, they announced dynamics gp 2016. when dynamics gp 2010 became end of support in october 2015, microsoft continued to support the other versions of dynamics gp, as well as dynamics crm, dynamics ax, and dynamics nav. microsoft cloud licensing plans dynamic gp 2019 are also cloud-only. 84d34552a1
