son of a son of a sailor with the idea of taking a limb of a 1960s boat power transformer and transplanting the center tap connections to two voltage sources and using the circuit for a tube rectifier circuit that can be coupled to nos vacuum tubes, i have designed and built a son of a son of a sailor (sosos). my plan is that i would build this to replace the ems 606 / 705 rectifiers, most of which i have already acquired. the external gemini magnetics 6507n/6610n was originally a marauder magnetics power supply and a horn-coupled power transformer. at the time, it was designed to replace a 270-volt or 350-volt, 2-hex valve rectifier. today, this transformer is an excellent rectifier for a 300-volt power supply with a center-tap. the magnetics convert the 700ma of current into an original output of about 1,200ma. on the voltage side, it is a high-voltage rectifier capable of 9.5vac. at these currents and voltages, the diodes are plenty, and don't burn out for some 40 years if you use them moderately. if you use them rarely, as i do, they last much longer because there is much less current in the diodes.. 84d34552a1
