I am getting support from all over the world, through your blog as friends from USA, Europe and more are joining me by my support to upgrade in my singing. It is always great to hear my friends sing in tune and note with me. Keep up the good work Maam. this is wonderful but i was wanting to know if u hav any suggestion or recommend any books for ppl like me to learn the basics?

Varnam is one of the pillars on which all Carnatic Music stands.. but I believe that most of the students sing the first few measures and then that gets over and rest of the varnam gets drowned.. trying to sing all the raga scales is difficult.. So if you are able to sing the sarali-varisakal with the proper swaras, take a rest for 4-5 weeks and then start singing the next varnam. The varnam is not a big deal, it is a test for the voice only... if your voice is good enough to sing sarali varisakal in ragam thodi, you are good to go. All the best

Varnam is the pillar of Carnatic music and these varnams are very challenging to sing in correct presentation. Your alankaram is wonderful. I did teach Sharatkumarih, but the way you have sung it and the raga it is in is very pleasing to the ear. Please listen to it once again. You already know the Swaras in the raga, so you could practice it repeatedly and improve. You could also sing the verse by Lingaa, if you feel comfortable with that. Alankaram is great. There are a lot of beautiful verses in the 'Thiruvaiyat-thi thalaimurai'. It is difficult to sing the first few verses in Alankaram... So take it easy.. whenever possible sing the verses by Lingaa.. and try to sing the song in the same pace and pitch... 84d34552a1
