vsnip v1.6.5
vsnip - VSCode Snippet generator
A quick CLI tool to create VS Code snippets without having to write any boilerplate code!
Installation
To install VSnip, run npm install -g vsnip
in your terminal.
Usage
To use VSnip, simply run vsnip
in your VsCode terminal. The tool will ask you the following in order to create a snippet:
- Select the language
- Enter the prefix for the snippet
- Enter a short description for the snippet
- Write/ paste only the code, no boilerplate (format gets memorised automatically!).
For the last step, the tool will open a temporary file in your default text editor with the selected language extension (e.g. .vue
). If you encounter any problem here, i recomend setting VsCode as your default text editor.
Add the code to the file and save it. When you close the file, the tool will create the snippet and save it in the appropriate snippets file. The temporary file gets deleted automatically.
Example:
Step1. Select a language from the dropdown
Step2. Provide a prefix and write a short description.
Step2. A temporary file is automatically opened, write or paste your code inside. Save and close the file when you are done to proceed.
After closing the temporary file, the snippet is ready! You can click on the Location link to see your result.
Now, if you type cl
(the prefix we chose for our snippet) and hit TAB
in any .js
file, you'll get the code you provided for this snippet.
Supported Languages
Tested on Windows and MacOs. The tool currently supports the following languages:
- Vue
- React
- JavaScript
- TypeScript
