i have a sony cd-rom drive which uses the scph-1000 bios. in the early days, all the bios from all the model ps1 machines were in cd form, and it took quite some time to hack up each one and bring the data onto the ftp server. i thought it would be nice to share the good information i was able to gather to make psx bios's a lot easier to read. 


a cd-rom-specific section. this section contains unused data from the cd-rom drive model psx bios's, such as addressing/drive offsets, the disc signature, and other diagnostics. it does not contain any data that is program specific to ps2 bios's, this data is only found in the data section of the cd-rom drivers bios. 


accessing the disc: this is what i have seen happening with the first time i played persona and super ghouls & ghosts. the disc opens and then the game runs for a few seconds and then the system hangs. you can still see the playstation menu when you press the menu button. 


at the very beginning of the disc, when it first "opens" the system takes a few seconds to load. i have never been able to get this disc to work while using this bioss. i have tested all of these, except scph-5004 which i was able to get to work perfectly. with scph-5004, i was able to load the game, however, the only thing it would do was jitter while the disc menu was loading. anyways, enjoy these bios's. 


each of the bios files represent a different region/locale version. for example, the first bios is a usa version. then the script will find out if the battery is empty or not, and if it is empty, then it will install the battery pack. then it will check if there is a non-empty battery folder, if not, it will run the battery install script. 84d34552a1
